Workshops at Stash Fine Yarns with Rowan Design Consultant Heike Gittins

Workshops at Stash Fine Yarns with Rowan Design Consultant Heike Gittins

Heike Gittins is a mobile Consultant based in Ruthin near Chester. Heike has had a keen love for all things textile since her childhood in Germany. Growing up at home with two grandmothers and mother knitting and crocheting, at 8 years old she was taught by one of her grandmothers to knit and crochet. In 1987 Heike moved to the UK and did not pick up needles and hooks for some time due to the shortage of quality yarns until she discovered the Rowan yarn range, fell in love with it and has been using it ever since. She admits that she was secretly hoping to become a Rowan Consultant for a while and that a chance meeting with Sharon Brant has helped to fulfil this dream. Heike specialises in project-based workshops with an emphasis on accessories for body and home, teaches the continental knitting technique as well as sock knitting with 5 needles.
When not teaching, Heike can be found in her studio surrounded by a stash of yarns and knitting books, trying out new design ideas.
She recently had her first design accepted by Rowan and this will be published on the Rowan website shortly
