| Stash Fine Yarns was established in September 2004 out of a passion for yarn by Helen Probert, a life long fibre fanatic!
After over twenty years in business in the holiday industry in Llandudno North Wales, we had to sell our business due to the serious health problems Helen was suffering from. After a subarachnoid haemorrhage, haemo-dialysis and a kidney transplant, Helen needed a new challenge in her life. She started a Business and Management Degree course at the local College and after gaining distinctions in all her projects the next hurdle posed to her by her tutor was to set up a 'live project'. After much thought Helen decided to turn her passion for yarn in to her 'Live Project' and with her husband Steve, launched celticove.com at the end of December 2004 from our home in Colwyn Bay, North Wales.
The house gradually filled up with yarn from all over the world, filling the garage, the dining room, spare room and eventually blocked the view of the television in the lounge! It was time to move on.... | |
| | Stash Fine Yarns, Godstall Lane
We opened our first shop 'Stash Fine Yarns' in Godstall Lane, Chester City centre in August 2005. A pretty little alleyway filled with small bijoux shops and restaurants situated between Eastgate Street (the main shopping street) and the Cathedral. After only a few months we realised that the shop was not going to be large enough for the future plans of Stash. We struggled on in Godstall Lane for as long as we could and continued to look for more suitable premises. We found a new unit with parking in January 2008. Not as pretty as Godstall Lane but far more practical for our rapidly growing business.

Helen's health in the meantime had deteriorated and she underwent a Liver and Kidney Transplant in February 2008. After a year of complications following this massive operation Helen finally returned back to Stash and her love... yarn!
The City Centre shop closed in June 2008 and the New Stash was born at Unit 48, Evans Business Centre, Minerva Avenue, Chester, CH1 4QL.

Our range of yarns and stock holding has grown exponentially over the last two years in our new premises and we have now taken on an adjoining unit to store our ever expanding stock. Our aim has always been to hold sufficient quantities of stock to satisfy all orders received and therefore enable customers to receive an exemplary service second to none.
Stash Fine Yarns continues to grow and aims to be the retailer of choice for the discerning knitter both in store and online for many years to come.
