***Rowan Magazine 47 now in stock******Rowan Magazine 47 now in stock***
Rowan Knitting and Crochet Magazine No. 47 (ZM47) features handknitting and crochet designs from Marie Wallin, Kaffe Fassett, Martin Storey, Erika Knight, Sarah Dallas, Sarah Hatton, Amanda Crawford, Antoni & Alison, Brandon Mably, Jennie Atkinson.

There is a serene calmness about the trends for Spring 2010, with femininity, elegance, vintage and drape being the key words for the season. Natural yarns are as popular as ever, with the majority of yarn aficionados declaring that ecological and sustainable yarns are becoming the norm rather than the exception. We see the emergence of recycled yarns mostly with fibres such as recycled silk, cotton and viscose. Sustainable yarns made from hemp, linen and corn are also very important in both heavier, rustic effects as well as being blended with fibres such as silk and viscose to create beautiful, fine draping yarns with fantastic fluidity, great stitch definition and understated shine.

If you ever thought that cancer is something that just happens to other people, think again.
I'm sorry to say this but, to a greater or lesser extent, cancer is something that will effect just about all of us living in the western hemisphere.

The Christie Hospital in Manchester has cared for many people we know today and sadly some people we have lost in the past. They are constantly looking for better and more effective ways and methods of treating this disease.

The Knitting Noras from Bolton, UK were inspired by each others abilities to create with knitting and crochet, their sense of fun and adventure, they have produced a calendar for 2010 to raise funds for the Christie Hospital, Manchester. It's a calendar with a fun twist..... Naked Knitting!

What can you do to help?.................. Why not buy Naked Knitting 2010!

Workshops at Stash Fine Yarns with Rowan Design Consultant Heike Gittins

Workshops at Stash Fine Yarns with Rowan Design Consultant Heike Gittins

Heike Gittins is a mobile Consultant based in Ruthin near Chester. Heike has had a keen love for all things textile since her childhood in Germany. Growing up at home with two grandmothers and mother knitting and crocheting, at 8 years old she was taught by one of her grandmothers to knit and crochet. In 1987 Heike moved to the UK and did not pick up needles and hooks for some time due to the shortage of quality yarns until she discovered the Rowan yarn range, fell in love with it and has been using it ever since. She admits that she was secretly hoping to become a Rowan Consultant for a while and that a chance meeting with Sharon Brant has helped to fulfil this dream. Heike specialises in project-based workshops with an emphasis on accessories for body and home, teaches the continental knitting technique as well as sock knitting with 5 needles.
When not teaching, Heike can be found in her studio surrounded by a stash of yarns and knitting books, trying out new design ideas.
She recently had her first design accepted by Rowan and this will be published on the Rowan website shortly

DIRECTIONS

We are about a mile and a half from the centre of Chester. If you are coming by train you will have to go into the centre of Chester to the bus exchange, which is behind the Town Hall. You can get the number 10 bus from the bus exchange, and get off at Rybrooks, the Jaguar/Volvo garage, this is the stop before the Sealand Road Park & Ride car park if the bus driver is unsure. At the traffic lights turn left into Sovereign Way, then turn down the third road on the right, this is Minerva Avenue. At the T junction turn right and walk through the barrier for Evans Easy Space Business Centre, then turn immediately left. Then turn right and we are down at the end of the row of units - Number 48 - there are signs outside. It is only a 5/10 minute walk from the bus stop. It sounds further but the roads are all short. Please do give us a call if you are unsure on 01244 389310.
